Not only did New Hampton’s girls win the Northeast Iowa Conference title Monday — for the fifth straight year — but the 328 posted by the Chickasaw girls set a new school record and a new conference record.

The New Hampton boys’ golf team continued their solid season this past week, as they picked up victories over conference foes Waukon and Crestwood. 

The push for the postseason is on for the Turkey Valley golf teams, and the Trojans appear to be heading into next weekend’s conference tournaments on the right track, especially after Monday’s double win over Postville.

Michele (Carlin) Sailstad couldn’t help but laugh when she was asked about the 1984 Drake Relays.

It was in so many ways a fitting end for the New Hampton boys track team Monday night.

The Turkey Valley boys track team had one of their best performances of the season Monday at the South Winn Invite. Their 149 team points were only bested by South Winneshiek’s 172.

The Turkey Valley trapshooting team had a solid day all around last Thursday at the Turkey Valley Trap Range, as they possessed the best squad, top two boys’ scores, and top three girls’ scores against Cresco.

The beautiful weather conditions allowed Turkey Valley to run some of its best times of the season on Monday at South Winneshiek. The Trojans finished fifth of the seven teams who competed, as they mustered up 82 points.

With the conference meet today and districts right around the corner, New Hampton girls’ track coach Jeanette Laures has one goal: to improve.

The weather could not have been more perfect for the New Hampton trapshooting team this past Thursday and Monday, as the team posted some of its best scores of the season.

The No. 1 ranked team in Class 2A kept it rolling on Friday and Monday, as the New Hampton girls golf team won two duals handily. The Chickasaws beat Waukon 180-226 and defeated Crestwood 176-206.

It wasn’t the finish Rachel Rinken wanted, but it says something about the New Hampton’s junior that she even competed in the long jump at last week’s Drake Relays.

With it 70 degrees, sunny, and no wind on Tuesday, the New Hampton and Turkey Valley trapshooting teams posted some of their best scores of the season at the Turkey Valley Trap Range, as they squared off against one another.

Turkey Valley faced stiff competition on Tuesday evening, as they faced Class 2A Crestwood in a meet at Jackson Heights Golf Course. 

Scott Frerichs was asked what he liked about his New Hampton boys track team’s performance at the Osage Invitational on Tuesday, and the veteran coach had a quick answer.
