Young team posts a big win

Lead Summary

By looking at the statistics, no one would ever guess how badly Turkey Valley beat their West Central guests Friday.    The Trojans only gained 136 yards on the ground, and threw for another 73 for a modest total of 209 yards on the night, yet the final score was Turkey Valley 62, Blue Devils 12.    The key is to go on scoring drives of 30 yards or less.    Cale Reicks was counting the turnovers by West Central after the game, and there were five in the first half. The first was his as he intercepted a West Central pass and returned it to the Blue Devil 16. That led to a one-yard plunge by Braeden Baumler to put the Trojans up 22-6 with :35 left in the first quarter and start a flurry of quick touchdowns by the Trojans.    The next one was also a heads up play by Reicks as he recovered a fumble on the West Central 24 and Will Einwalter scored from the 19.    Luke Mueller and Baumler would also recover fumbles and Einwalter would intercept a pass and take it to the end zone and with 8:19 left in the half and the continuous clock in play, Turkey Valley led 54-6. That's 32 points in just over four minutes.    "They gave us opportunities and we capitalized on them," said Reicks. "We scored off all of their turnovers, I think."
