Waukon ends Chickasaw girls season in 3A regional

Lead Summary

New Hampton girls basketball coach Chad Pemble used one word to describe how he was feeling after the Chickasaws fell to Waukon in the regional opener on Saturday — numb.
“I’ve been coaching these senior girls since they were in fourth grade. They’re an awesome bunch of kids,” he said. “One of them is my daughter, but I love the other three like they are my kids. I’m going to really miss them.”
The Indians — who entered with a record of 13-8 — jumped out to a 14-8 advantage in the first quarter, but Kaylee Eggerichs drained a 3-pointer to get NH within three points at 14-11 heading into the second period.
