Turkey Valley picks up pair of league sweeps

Lead Summary

When the ball sailed over the fence in Turkey Valley’s second game against Central Elkader Wednesday, Shayla Kuennen didn’t realize it hit the scoreboard, then bounced back onto the field.
“I just started running right away so I could get at least a double,” she said of her second home run of the season. “I heard it hit something and thought maybe it hit the tile on top of the fence but then I heard ‘slow down, slow down’ and realized it went over.”
The solo shot put Turkey Valley up 4-1 and they would go on to sweep Central 7-5, as game one ended in a 3-inning, 13-1 win.
