Trojans erupt in sweep of Postville

Lead Summary

Wyatt Blazek is pretty stoic on the baseball field. But when his grand slam home run went over the centerfield fence Thursday as the Trojans were in game one of a doubleheader against Postville, the Trojan senior allowed himself just a moment of unadulterated glee.Up 5-0 in the second inning, Cale Reicks, Simon Schmitt and Mason Goerend were all belted in by the hit, which was the first home run of Blazek's career. That made it 9-0, the Trojans would go on to win 15-0, then would also take game two 13-0.Blazek finished game one with six RBIs, as he also singled and doubled."Wyatt has worked to become a good baseball player," coach Dan Stepan said. "He really struggled as a hitter when he was younger, but stuck with it and is seeing the rewards of many cuts and a determination to make himself a great hitter for us."
