Trojan girls drop pair of UIC contests

Lead Summary

The moment Morgen Kuennen connected with a pitch high in the strike zone in game two against Central Monday, she knew it was gone.  “I’ve had a home run on JV before, but that was my first one on varsity,” said the Turkey Valley senior.  Although there weren’t a ton of highlights during the doubleheader Lady Trojan loss, that was one of them.  Kuennen is one of two seniors — Sadie Nymeyer is the other — that will be honored on senior night tonight [Friday] as the home Turkey Valley softball season comes to an early end at home against Crestwood.  Following a 13-3, six-inning loss in game one Monday, Turkey Valley started game two out with some alert defense as, after a dropped third strike, catcher Kassidy Reicks picked up the ball and caught a Central runner off base on a throw to Kuennen at first, resulting in two quick outs.  More on the story may be found in the June 9 Tribune.
