‘Streaky’ Trojans drop UIC match

Lead Summary

The word coach Ethan Adams used after his Turkey Valley volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to Upper Iowa Conference opponent Clayton Ridge Thursday was “streaky.”
“We lose our enthusiasm, we lose our fire on the court,” he said.
There were good streaks in each of the sets, including consecutive kills by Karissa Schmidt in the first set and a pair of saves by Breanna Busta in set two, but after the Turkey Valley  girls lost 25-18 and 25-11, they were down early in the third set; the Eagles had nine points on the board before the Trojans scored their first point.
But Turkey Valley narrowed the gap, though still down 21-17, with help from two aces by Busta and two by Schmidt. The comeback fell short as the Trojans lost the third set 25-19.
