Short game needs work as TV golfers are swept by Eagles

Lead Summary

On a day that season lows seemed unlikely, Turkey Valley's golfers still managed a few amidst the mist and cold wind, but both the Trojan teams lost to Clayton Ridge at Jackson Heights Monday.  Since there was a track meet at Oelwein the same day, coach John Reicks was without those competitors.  "I was happy with what we shot overall, but our putting woes continue," said Reicks. "The kids battled the cold and misty weather with very few complaints."  While they may not have complained, the cold may have rushed some putts that added strokes to the short game.  The boys lost 170 to 211.  "When we are at full strength, the boys could easily shoot 30 to 40 strokes lower,” Reicks said. “That is our goal by the end of the year."  For all of the Turkey Valley scores, please see the April 14 Tribune.
