Senior writes own storybook ending

Regan Gebel didn’t give a you-know-what about the forecast after the first day of the Class 2A state golf tournament.
“After Tuesday, I looked at the forecast, saw the rain, and all I was thinking is I want to golf tomorrow,” said the lone senior varsity player on New Hampton’s outstanding girls golf team. 
“I’ve got to golf tomorrow. I didn’t want it getting rained out. I just had to play.”
She got her wish and then she came through with the best 18 holes of her life — firing an 87, breaking her previous best career round by 12 strokes — as her team cruised to New Hampton’s first-ever team state golf championship.
