Record-breaking day

More than a year ago, Noah Fenske checked the track record board at New Hampton High School, and the goal — break the school record in the shot put — was formed.
On Monday, it was realized as Fenske uncorked a toss of 56 feet, 8 inches at the Decorah Early Bird to break Joel Rochford’s 24-year-old record of 56-0 on a night in which New Hampton’s young track team made some solid strides.
The Chickasaws got wins from Fenske in the shot put and the discus and its 4x800 team of Evan Gossling, Joshua and Stephen Holschlag and Austin Geerts.
