A pretty good sweep

Lead Summary

How long has it been since a New Hampton softball team has beaten a Waverly-Shell Rock softball team? The last time was on June 19, 2013.The Chickasaws won 2-1 on a two-RBI single by Allie Geerts.Jessie Crooks pitched that game, but Wednesday Kayla Gilbert was on the mound. She pitched six of the seven innings of a Chickasaw shutout, 4-0 over the Go-Hawks.“It feels great,” said the Chickasaw senior after the first game of a doubleheader. “In one of our first huddles tonight Lexi [Rasmussen] said ‘we need to beat Waverly at least once in our high school careers’ and it’s nice to get that first one under our belts.”But they didn’t stop there, defeating their guests in the nitecap, 6-1. You’d have to go back even further to find a New Hampton sweep.
