Positive signs

Nashua-Plainfield’s baseball team deserved a better fate than it was handed last Wednesday night, but even though it sounds like a broken record, the still-winless Huskies are making progress.The Huskies fell 6-5 to Northwood-Kensett on that night, then played  two games over the next two nights that Mother Nature suspended before falling to Central Springs 12-7 on Monday.“Our kids are learning what it takes to win,” said Nashua-Plainfield coach Levi Miller, whose team fell to 0-11 after the loss to the Panthers. “They have grown so much since the beginning of the year, and in every phase of the game, too. We pitch better, we hit better, we field better, and it’s coming.Against Northwood-Kensett, junior pitcher Levi Enright put up a gritty performance for 5 1/3 innings but was tagged for six runs, all of which came after close calls would have gotten him out of the innings Northwood-Kensett plated their runs.Enright gave up four hits, walked six and struck out four, but his defense was solid behind him.
