Normal week leads to fast times for Chickasaws, Trojans

Lead Summary

The New Hampton and Turkey Valley cross country teams finally enjoyed a “normal” week, and they capped it off with a shining run on a cold Saturday outing in Cresco.
“To get a chance to run two meets and to have a chance to hold normal practices, we’ve been waiting forever for this,” New Hampton coach Jamie Ohrt said. “We needed it, and I think it showed by the times we ran.”
The Chickasaws got a fifth-place finish from Nolan Usher and a 16th-place finish from his brother, Dylan, to take fourth in the team standings at the Crestwood Invitational, but more importantly, New Hampton had four runners rip off career-best times and three more claim season-best times.
Turkey Valley, meanwhile, got a strong second-place finish from Jalyssa Blazek and had a number of season-bests.
Results from each team are available in the Oct. 2 Tribune.
