NH boys, girls fall in NEIC affair to WSR

Lead Summary

Both the New Hampton boys and girls basketball teams knew they faced a tall task when they traveled to Waverly-Shell Rock on Tuesday evening. The Go-Hawk girls entered the game atop the Northeast Iowa Conference standings at an undefeated 8-0, while the boys were second at 6-2.
And although Chickasaw coaches Chad Pemble and Ryan Rausch would have been ecstatic to see their teams claim victory, they were pleased with the fight their players showed despite being defeated.
“We wanted to compete with the best team in our league,” Pemble said. “While we struggled in the first quarter, I thought our girls did a good job of competing.”
