New Hampton rolls to two wins

Lead Summary

There’s no question that New Hampton’s softball team can hit the ball. But what Jack Seelhammer appreciates about his Chickasaws is the fact that they have a patient streak.“We’re not just going up to the plate and swinging at anything,” he said. “For the most part, our girls go up there and wait for good pitches.”And that patience continued to pay off this week as New Hampton drew seven walks in an 8-1 win over Nashua-Plainfield Tuesday and then drew five more in an 18-4 Northeast Iowa Conference victory over Decorah Wednesday. Not that New Hampton didn’t continue to crush the ball as the Chickasaws got home runs from Lexi Rasmussen Tuesday and Isabel Leichtman on Wednesday. More on the story may be found in the June 16 Tribune.
