New Hampton girls pick up two NEIC wins

Beakers, test tubes, molecules and microscopes.
Chad Pemble understands all about the chemistry of his class at New Hampton High School.
The longtime science teacher at NHHS also knows what that means out on the basketball court.
One word – two different definitions.
Some times it takes time to mesh together and orchestrate harmonious effectiveness to get the leather ball into the round, orange rim of a hoop.
But much like the science classes he teaches, maybe passes, layups or steals in basketball aren’t all that far removed from lab tests that study particles in a petri dish?
Because team chemistry isn’t effective in any setting without teamwork.
And Pemble’s Chickasaw girls basketball team seems to be gelling after a rough patch to start the season.
New Hampton ripped off two consecutive wins after an 0-5 start and the Chickasaws registered those wins in dominant fashion over the likes of Crestwood and Oelwein.
Kandice Eggerichs, a sophomore guard for New Hampton, is one such player that is getting used to competing on the varsity level and learning how to play with her new teammates.
“We’re still obviously working on it. Most of us haven’t played together – for like ever,” said Eggerichs. “So we’re just trying to create that bond.”
The Chickasaws used some of that team chemistry to earn a 56-30 victory over Crestwood on Tuesday. The Cadets remain winless on the season at 0-7.
