New Hampton gets big win

Lead Summary

New Hampton may not have gotten a sweep on Thursday, but the Chickasaws certainly showed they belonged.
The Chickasaws, behind the five-hit pitching of Savannah Anderson and a key bases-loaded double from Paige Wisner, knocked off Crestwood 4-1 in the opening game of a doubleheader, and while the Cadets rebounded for a 1-0 win in the nightcap, New Hampton coach Jack Seelhammer liked almost everything he saw.
“I told the girls after the games, ‘Look, you can play with anyone.’ That’s the 10th-ranked team in the state, and we weren’t that far off from leaving Cresco with two wins under our belt,” he said. “It’s definitely something we can build on.”
Anderson pitched one of her best games as a Chickasaw as the senior recorded five strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter.
And Wisner made sure her teammate left the pitcher’s circle with a W when she smacked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give New Hampton a 4-1 lead.
