Marjorie Rasing was born on January 4, 1960, to James and Beatris McGill in the town of New Hampton, Iowa. In her early childhood, she attended Fredericksburg Elementary Schools with her four siblings and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1979.
After a brief marriage, she met Wayne Rasing on a blind date and they hit it off. In 1988, they were engaged and married on July 7, of 1988. To this union three children were born, James (1989), Andrew (1991), and Austin (1992).
Marjorie was a deeply caring person and worked as a CNA for nearly 40 years while raising their children. She was always reliable in her work and tried her best because those that she cared for deserved nothing less. Marjorie always showed up when you needed her if she could manage. She treasured many of her coworkers and the residents as friends and family.
For a few years, she decided to be a stay at home mother to her children while her husband Wayne worked at Underwood Fur and Feed. Once the kids were old enough, she once again began working at the nursing homes, eventually beginning work at Linn Haven. As her children graduated from high school she took pride in them and their accomplishments.
She doted on her sons whenever she could. In 2017 her first grandchild Thompson was born to her youngest son, Austin, and she had all the love in the world to give. She would set time aside just to visit and spend time with her grandson, as well as his older half-sister Jaicee.
In 2019, Austin passed away suddenly, leaving a void that she never could quite fill. She was helped by both the community and her friends and family to recover from the loss of her youngest child. After his passing, she focused on putting her love toward her grandchildren, often times having them come up and stay with her and Wayne for weeks at a time, always endeavouring to keep his memory alive in them.
She often would color in her butterfly coloring book with her colorful gel pens, never finishing a book before she found another one that she was just as excited to do. Often times it would just be a single page. She loved coloring, almost as much as she loved her grandchildren.
Sadly, on July 22, 2020, Marjorie suffered a severe stroke. After a week in the intensive care unit, the doctors had exhausted all options to help her recovery. Soon afterwards, she was moved into hospice where she spent the rest of her days surrounded by friends and family.
Her life was so much more than the way that she died.
Marjorie is survived by her husband Wayne of New Hampton, IA; her eldest son James Rasing and his fiancé Bethany Glaser of Alta Vista, IA, her middle child, Andrew Rasing of New Hampton, IA; her brother Ron McGill and his wife Vickey of Fredericksburg, IA; and her grandson Thompson Rasing of Atlantic, IA; two siblings, Brenda and Don.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Beatris McGill; her youngest son Austin Rasing; brother, Kevin Bee Sr.
