 It was, Nashua-Plainfield baseball coach Levi Miller believes, a momentous week for his Huskies.They showed they can beat “anyone,” they learned a valuable baseball lesson and they showed what kind of team they can be when they play a little angry.Add it all up, and the Huskies went 2-1 — rallying to hand St. Ansgar its first Top of Iowa East Division loss, falling 6-5 to Osage in extra innings and then routing North Butler 11-1.“We’re in district mode right now,” Miller said after his team improved to 10-11 overall and 7-7 in Top of Iowa play. “Some teams try to turn that intensity on when they get there, and you can’t do that.”If Nashua-Plainfield proved anything in its recent games, it is this: The Huskies can’t wait for July baseball.Trailing 3-0 last Wednesday against the Saints, Nashua-Plainfield tied the game with a three-run fourth inning that was highlighted by a two-run double from sophomore Tanner Haut.“We didn’t hang our heads, we just battled back,” Miller said. “That’s what I want to see from these guys.”The full story may be found in the June 30 Reporter.
