Huskies shine at Top of Iowa

Lead Summary

Faith Carpenter’s freshman season, so far, couldn’t have been scripted any better.   Emma Sinnwell’s junior year on the other hand has, at times at least, deviated from the plan.   But it all came together last Thursday for both Nashua-Plainfield runners as they raced to first-team all-conference finishes at the Top of Iowa meet that was held on the campus of North Iowa Area Community College.   “I know for me, I was thinking both [time and place],” Carpenter said after she finished 11th in the 18-team conference meet. “I wanted to run my best time, but I also wanted to get first-team all-conference, too.”   Mission accomplished on both fronts as she turned in a time of 21:21.1 and helped Nashua-Plainfield to a seventh-place finish in the team standings.   Sinnwell, meanwhile, has been battling asthma for much of the year, and she hasn’t been able to run at some meets and has had to leave the course midway through several others.   For all the Nashua-Plainfield results, please see the Oct. 20 Reporter.
