Homecoming thriller

Lead Summary

The lesson from Friday’s New Hampton football game Friday was simple: Heart beats size.
Yes, New Hampton was outweighed by 30 to 40 pounds at virtually every position, and yes, the usually reliable Chickasaw running game sputtered, but New Hampton found a way by playing tough, physical football in a 13-6 homecoming victory over the Go-Hawks.
“Defensively, I was really happy with the way we played,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said after New Hampton evened its record at 2-2, “and we made enough big plays on both sides of the ball and on special teams to win. As coaches, we couldn’t be prouder of the effort they gave us.”
