Hanneman Construction purchases lots in Nashua’s Industrial Park

Lead Summary

Two lots in Nashua’s Industrial Park were sold for a second time at Monday night’s City Council meet.
The lots were purchased by Hanneman Construction, almost two months after they were originally sold to Tangled Root Cafe and Catering.
But Tangled Root owner Chris Robinson subsequently decided not to finalize the purchase; instead he bought a building on Main Street to grow his business.
Mike Hanneman said his firm will be using the lots to expand his business. He is planning on building right in the middle of the two lots for a main office and storage space.
Each lot was sold for $400 each, with a three-year tax abatement and he will have two years to build. There is only one lot left in Nashua’s Industrial Park to be sold.
Also on Monday, Tim Fox from Charles City Area Development Corporation reported on the “inventory” he conducted of the 200 and 300 blocks on Main Street in Nashua.
Fox reported to the Council that nine of the 29 properties are delinquent on property taxes and only two of those missed the March 2016 tax payment.
Owner Nub Ronnei from Nub’s Bait Tackle and More is very concerned about the Main Street properties around him.
“Some are using the building next to him for garbage dumps which is adding to the problem,” Ronnei said.
Fox said the city was working hard to make Main Street a gathering place.
“This is a very time consuming process but we are moving forward on the project,” he said.
