Off to a great start

Lead Summary

If the Upper Iowa Conference indoor meet is any indication of the Turkey Valley girls’ season, coach Dalton Hackman could have a competitive bunch in his first year of coaching.
Although the Trojan girls were sixth of the nine teams at the UIC Friday, some their times were comparable, or even better, than the best times the team had all of last year.
While some events had limited participation — not all teams were ready to compete in all the events — others were very competitive. The distance medley ran two heats with each school entering the race and Turkey Valley was second of the nine teams with Sophie Adams, Jaycie Byrne, Kourtney Schmidt and Jalyssa Blazek. Their time of 4:46.98 beat last year’s best time by nearly 10 seconds.
“This meet, we had a great start, in my opinion,” said Hackman. “Across the board I see a lot of potential, our 4x8 had a really good time too.”
