Finding the end zone!

Nashua-Plainfield didn’t get the win, yet one touchdown changed everything for the Huskies last Friday in a 38-16 loss to South Winneshiek.
For the first time in the 2018 season, the Huskies found “pay dirt” as Derik Auchstetter raced 47 yards in the fourth quarter to finally give Nashua-Plainfield points on the scoreboard.
The Huskies liked it the feeling so much, they did it again on a John Krull 1-yard run a few minutes later.
“It was huge, and I don’t think that’s overstating it,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Nick Lamphier said. “They were a completely different team after they scored, both offensively and defensively. You could see them finally have some confidence in themselves and that’s a start.”
And while the loss dropped Nashua-Plainfield to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in Class A, District 4 play, it also ended a brutal stretch of district opponents. Nashua-Plainfield’s district losses have come to Mason City Newman, St. Ansgar and South Winneshiek, and the three teams are a combined 10-0 in district play.
“We’ve had a tough schedule, I don’t think anyone can say we haven’t,” Lamphier said, “but we’re starting to trust the process and we are making progress. Obviously, none of us want to lose, but we’re moving in the direction we need to move.”
