Doris Louise Joebgen-Baltes, 64

Lead Summary

On Saturday, May 29, 2021, Doris Louise Joebgen-Baltes, loving mother and wife, crossed life’s finish line at the young age of 64.
A private ceremony to celebrate Doris’s life is being prepared for close friends and family. Details will be shared at a later date. Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory is entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences for the Baltes family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com.
Doris was born on December 28, 1956, to Henry and Margaret (Sheridan) Joebgen, Jr. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1975 and went on later in life to pursue an Associate of Arts degree in Business from The American Institute of Commerce in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
On June 18, 1994, Doris was married to Harold Baltes after a 10-year courtship. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. They worked side by side for many years running the Prop Shop in New Hampton.
Doris will always be remembered for her beautiful long, brown hair. On any given day of the week, you could find her pursuing her passion of becoming an Ironman Triathlete through running and biking all over town, oftentimes collecting cans along the way. She competed in many triathlons and running races in the latter part of her life, including qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2014.
She had an incredible green thumb and loved to grow flowers, plants, and vegetables in her many gardens. Doris loved to travel, see new places and learn about travel throughout the world. She loved the islands of Hawaii and was intent on making the Big Island of Kona the place where she would live out her retirement. She had an avid love for cars and music from the 50s and 60s, often traveling to car shows with her husband, Harold, in addition to collecting Elvis memorabilia. An introverted and private person to most, Doris was known by her closest family and friends as fierce, passionate, driven, loyal, and incredibly loving. She will be forever missed and will always live on in our hearts.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Harold, of nearly 27 years; her daughters, Pam (Jeff) Colbert of Cambridge, MN, Barb (Greg) Meissen of Cambridge, MN; step-children, Tina (Wes) Collier of South Fulton, TN, Michelle (Tim) Graves of Rossville, TN, Bill (Janeen) Baltes of Southhaven, MS, Aaron (Alyson) Baltes of Dysart, IA, and Jennifer Demaray of Ankeny; brothers and sisters Jim (Dixie) Joebgen, Mary Roethler, Janette (Art) Onken, Mike (Tammy) Joebgen all of the New Hampton area and many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
