Crushing the field

Lead Summary

Most of New Hampton’s golfers put up career-best 18-hole scores as the Chickasaw girls were in the process of winning their regional first round Monday. With a 341, the margin of victory over their Dike-New Hartford hosts was by 46 strokes. Since the host team was one of the top two teams, there will be three teams advancing to the second round of regionals, with West Marshall joining the Chickasaws and Dike-New Hartford. For the first time this season, neither Allison or Morgan Nuss was the medalist as Dike’s Morgan Weber edged Allison by two strokes, 75-77.The 77 was one short of the school record, owned by the Chickasaw. “Allison was cruising, about the best I’ve seen her play,” said coach Eric Olson. “Until she got to that one hole.”Nuss started the meet off with a double bogey, but with an eagle and two birdies included in the rest of the front nine, she finished with a one under par 35. Had this been only a nine-hole meet, the 35 would have set a new school record, beating her old record of 36.
