Chickasaws sweep Columbus in varsity DH

Lead Summary

He may have had 33 of the team’s 66 points, but all Drake Wemark cared about was getting the victory. And he led the charge for the New Hampton boys in being able to do this, as they picked up their first win of the year over Columbus Catholic by a score of 66-61 in an overtime thriller on Thursday.
“I just came in loose and ready to get a win. I had a few buckets early that got me going,” Wemark said. “The guys on the bench kept me going the whole game, and the guys on the court got me the ball when I was open.”
It was a back-and-forth battle throughout. After being tied at 59-59 at the end of regulation, the Chickasaws were able to outscore the Sailors in the overtime period 7-2 to come out on top. Coach Ryan Rausch says there were three reasons they were able to outplay Columbus in this extra period.
