Chickasaws fall to Mason City

Lead Summary

The sun did rise on Friday morning, but it didn’t brighten the mood for New Hampton boys basketball coach Ryan Rausch after his team dropped a 77-41 non-conference tilt to Mason City.
“Look, you can’t turn the ball over 27 times and expect to win,” he said after his team fell to 0-2. “Heck, you can’t turn the ball over 15 times and expect to win. Taking nothing away from Mason City — their guards are super quick — but we have to figure this out. Fifty-two turnovers in two games isn’t going to cut it.”
Put it this way, this wasn’t the way New Hampton wanted to play its first-ever boys basketball game in its new gym.
