Chickasaw throwers go ‘long’ at Osage

Lead Summary

Ask Noah Fenske if he wants to beat his teammate Dillon Roberson in the shot put, and the answer is an emphatic yes.  Ask Roberson if he wants to beat Fenske, and the answer is the same.  But the two sophomores — both of whom came up with career-best throws at Tuesday’s Osage Invitational — are also each other’s biggest fans.  “I think we push each other a lot,” Fenske said after finishing second with a throw of 47-0.25, “and I know he’s helped me a lot. If something’s working for him, I’ll try it, too.   Plus, Dillon kind of keeps everyone loose.”  Roberson, meanwhile, finished fourth Tuesday with a throw of  46-4.5.  “We do have a lot of fun,” he said, “but when we get into the ring, we know we have to get serious. ... When he does well, I want to do better, but that’s a good thing.”  The results of Tuesday's meet at Osage may be found in the April 28 Tribune.
