Chickasaw girls shine in Waukon

Lead Summary

New Hampton girls track coach Jeanette Laures had very few complaints when it came to her team’s performances Tuesday night.  The Chickasaws won three events and finished a strong second — hey, losing to Decorah in any team race is unfortunately almost a fact of life — at the Don Steffens Relays in Waukon.  “We were very pleased with the efforts of all the girls last night,” she said. “We saw lots of great PRs, which is exactly what we're looking for at this point in our season.”  And those personal-best times weren’t necessarily limited to the varsity runners as New Hampton had a solid junior varsity night — winning four events in that division.  The Chickasaws got varsity wins from the distance medley relay team of Natalie Hoey, Sadie Tenge, Darian Wegner and Maddi Moorman; Rachel Rinken in the 400; and Rinken, Wegner, Kaelyn Ambrose and Tenge in the 4x100.  For all the New Hampton results, please see the April 28 Tribune.
