Chickasaw girls have big goals this spring

Lead Summary

The New Hampton girls golf team has achieved an immense amount of accolades over the past few seasons, including two runner-up finishes at state and four consecutive Northeast Iowa Conference championships.
With their top three golfers returning from last year in Allison Nuss, Morgan Nuss, and Emma Ewert, the Chickasaws are ambitious to finally get over the hump and win a state title.
“I think every year we’ve been at state, we’ve learned a little bit more about what we need to do from a preparation and coaching standpoint to make us better,” New Hampton girls head golf coach Eric Olson said. “We’re going to try to make a couple of those changes this year. Basically, it’s just doing the best we can and getting better every day, and I think it will take care of itself.”
When Olson first took over the program, the golf team was mediocre. He says a change in culture has been a major factor in what has led to the Chickasaws success.
