Catherine “Cathy” Terese Zbornik, 54, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday Mar. 19, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City.  Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at noon at the Fort Atkinson Community Center, Fort Atkinson. Surviving is her husband, Kurt Neyens; her mother, Helen Zbornik of Fort Atkinson, Iowa; her siblings Susan Zbornik of Decorah; Julie Zbornik (Wayne Lott) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; John (Carol) Zbornik of Menomonie, Wisc. and Sarah Zbornik of Decorah; her nieces and nephews Stephen James Zbornik, Hannah (Trent) Bildstein, Ben Zbornik, Sam Zbornik, Andrew Magner and Jake Magner. She was preceded in death by her father, Adrian Zbornik and a brother, Stephen Zbornik.Cathy was born June 28, 1962 in Decorah, the daughter of Adrian and Helen (Shindelar) Zbornik. She attended St John Nepomocene Grade School, Turkey Valley High School and Capri Cosmetology. She married Kurt Neyens on Oct. 13, 2007 in Cedar Rapids. Cathy was a beloved hair stylist in Cedar Rapids. She was a people’s person with a great sense of humor.  She loved playing cards, Scrabble, mushroom hunting, fishing, listening to music and playing piano. Cathy was a great cook and gardener; canning many of the vegetables from her garden.  She had a love of animals, especially her two cats. Cathy’s outgoing personality and generous spirit will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
